The Heart Behind Lavender Grace

Meet Sydney, Founder of Lavender Grace
I’ve spent nearly a decade caring for children and supporting families as a nanny, postpartum doula, newborn care provider, and soon as a sleep consultant. My background is rooted in hands‑on experience, deep empathy, and a genuine love for helping families feel confident and supported.
I’ve worked with newborns, toddlers, multiples, first‑time parents, repeat parents, and families navigating complex and average postpartum seasons. I understand the emotional, physical, and mental load that comes with bringing a new baby home, and I know how life‑changing it is to have someone walk beside you through it.
Lavender Grace is the culmination of everything I’ve learned, everything I value, and everything I believe families deserve.
More About Me
When I’m not supporting families, you can usually find me enjoying cozy routines, organizing something (because it genuinely relaxes me), or spending time with loved ones. I’m someone who leads with empathy, listens closely, and believes that care should feel warm and human. My approach is gentle, thoughtful, and rooted in respect for each family’s unique rhythm. I’m honored every time a family invites me into their home and trusts me with their most meaningful moments. Although I don’t have children of my own yet, I always say that I gain a new little one with every family I support. You’ll often hear me say “my kids,” when talking and I genuinely mean it — each child I care for holds a special place in my heart. I also happen to be someone who loves sleep, which I consider one of my secret strengths in this work. Being able to go home, rest, and come back 100% recharged is part of what allows me to give such steady, loving care.
For years, I watched families try to navigate newborn life without support, and I watched caregivers, especially postpartum doulas and nannies pour their hearts into their work without receiving fair pay, respect, or community. I knew there had to be a better way. Lavender Grace was created to be that better way. A place where families feel heard and caregivers feel valued. A place where support is ethical, accessible, and rooted in love, and where mothers don’t have to prove they’re struggling to deserve help. I wanted to build something that felt warm, trustworthy, and human a collective that reflects the kind of care I wish every family could experience.
Why I started Lavender Grace
Our mission
Lavender Grace exists to provide ethical, elevated, and heart‑centered postpartum and childcare support to families in Maryland and beyond. We are committed to:
-
Supporting families with compassion and dignity
-
Paying caregivers fairly and transparently
-
Offering accessible options so more families can receive care
-
Creating a community where everyone feels seen and supported
-
Providing guidance rooted in evidence, experience, and empathy
We believe care should be both luxurious and accessible, and we work every day to make that balance possible.
Our Philosophy of Care
Postpartum is not a time to “push through”. It’s a time to be held.
Our philosophy is simple:
-
Rest is essential
-
Support is transformative
-
Mothers deserve care, not pressure
-
Every family’s journey is unique
-
Caregivers deserve respect, fair pay, and autonomy
We meet families where they are, with gentleness, expertise, and zero judgment.
Our Vision for the Future
Lavender Grace is growing, and with that growth comes a bigger mission. In the future, we plan to offer:
✨ A Giveback Program: Free or reduced‑cost nights for families in need.
✨ A “Pay It Forward” Fund: Families who’ve received support can help another mother.
✨ A Retreat Space: A home away from home for mothers to rest, heal, and reconnect with themselves.
✨ Expanded training + opportunities for caregivers: Because doulas, nannies, and specialists deserve community and growth.
This is more than a collective, it’s a movement toward compassionate, accessible postpartum care.
